Tehuana Night Pouch, a Wearable Sculpture

$1,000.00

Materials and Process:

A new collection of sculptural handbags, inspired by my home of Oaxaca, its gorgeous and resilient women, and the exquisite photography of Graciela Iturbide and Edward Weston.

The Tehuana Night Pouch was created with the glorious traditional pleated lace headdress worn by women in the Isthmus region of Oaxaca, Mexico in mind. In particular asfer the iconic image made by Edward Weston in 1926 titled Rosa Covarrubias In Tehuana Dress.

The one of a kind bag is made with hand pleated silk and natural dyes, made to look reptilian in nature. It has antique black silk velvet living and strap with a drawstring closure. A portable little sculpture, just the right to fit a phone, lipstick and keys, worn as a wristlet.

Color: Natural Dyes, shades of green and grey with deep purple accents

Textile: Silk exterior and interior with antique silk velvet trim and strap

Care: Dry clean only
