Materials and Processes:
Vintage Schumacher flora textile from the early 2000’s and sheer silk organza at the back, hand cut and hand sewn then stuffed with natural pochote fiber.
This unique piece is part of a larger body of art works made while studying and experimenting with local undervalued and underused fibers in Mexico. I procured the fiber in Oaxaca and then dried and hand processed in my studio.
There are twenty pillows in total, joined together with hand stitching.
A one-of-a-kind soft sculpture, can be decoratively laid out on a bed or divan or even a chair as seen here
and alternatively hung up to divide a room or displayed against a wall.
